Homeless Experts Counter Senator Coburn's "Waste" Report
Leaders from organizations working to end homelessness in America today questioned the inclusion of Community Voice Mail (CVM) in a list of "wasteful” federal expenditures produced by U.S. Senator Tom Coburn, M.D. (R-OK). More than just Voice Mail
Community Voice Mail is the only nonprofit organization in the U.S. that has created, replicated, and sustained a nationwide voice mail program dedicated to assisting people in crisis and transition in their efforts to become self-sufficient.
For over 15 years, Community Voice Mail has provided a simple and effective solution to a complex problem. We help people in crisis and transition stay connected to the very tool they need most: a constant telephone number.
On average, Community Voice Mail helps 40,000 people a year through partnerships with over 2,000 social service agencies in nearly 400 cities/towns in 21 states plus the District of Columbia.
